To those who celebrate - Happy Thanksgiving week!

The last few weeks have been a fun ramp back into training as I prepare for the Black Canyon 50k in February. I ran a few really strong workouts, including a 10-mile moderate effort straight out the front door, the week after an 8x2’ on 2’ off session rolling straight into a 5k at threshold before a slow cooldown. I talked about the mechanics of that workout on an upcoming podcast with sports scientist Jonah Rosner. I was super curious why I felt so good running threshold effort having already done a 32-minute workout.

Our cringe-worthy annual TRE photo.

Last week Emily (FTLR podcast producer/partnerships extraordinaire) and I went to Austin for The Running Event. TRE as it’s known, is a running industry event focused on connection. Connecting brands to running specialty stores and shoe buyers, brands to media, media to athletes, and all the other permutations of industry insider connections that can be made. And the Austin running scene showed up too! There were countless group runs along Lady Bird Lake and all around the city. We also got to spend a good amount of time with Phil from Boulderthon, who has become not just a mentor of mine in the industry, but also a friend! We shared BBQ (Terry Black’s is a must-do), and quite a bit of brainstorming! 🤯

Dakotah and I after a super fun PUMA group run!

I was there for some InsideTracker meetings as well as hosting a group run with PUMA + a couple of podcasts with PUMA athletes Fiona O’Keefe and Julien Alfred. Those are coming soon!

After my interview with Julien (coming soon!).

I also got to see a few of the long-time partners of the pod, and it’s always good to see the people who help make it possible! We swung by PUMA (duh), Tifosi, Cheribundi, Skratch, Fuel Goods, Oiselle, Darn Tough, and many others. It’s also fun to finally meet many of the PR people who share all the goodies I get to try out. Special shout out to Jess, President of OutsidePR for solving a crisis a bit outside her normal scope 🤣 (if you want to learn more about what PR people do as it relates to the running industry!)

Jess Fiaschetti and I at TRE!

For those following along on Instagram, you may have seen that we launched a partnership with the Lake County Tourism Board, home of one of my favorite towns, Leadville, Colorado.

Many of you are familiar with the Leadville Race Series and the Leadville 100 and all the good stuff that Leadville and Twin Lakes has to offer in the summer. But we love Leadville in the winter (and spring and fall) too!

The goal of this partnership is to share all the amazing and lesser known things about Leadville that Kate and I been loving for the last few years, with some fun new stuff ahead too! Her cousin has a house up there, so we’ve been able to go quite a bit over the last few years. Stay tuned for more exciting updates ahead!

Now it’s off to Boston for Thanksgiving! I hope you and yours have a wonderful Turkey Trot!
