The For The Long Run March Newsletter
And just like that, we’re 1/3 of the way through 2025. 🤯

If you set goals and intentions in the new year, time for a quick check in.
How are you doing?
What changes have you made?
What changes do you want to make?
What is stopping you?
Over here I’m in my growth era, and running-wise, feel like I’m in midseason form. I guess that’s what happens when you run an ultra in early February.
I took a few easy weeks post-50k and then have mostly jumped back into training. I’ve run some tough workouts, including a 6x2’ + 4x1’ hill session, and this past week’s 16x1’ on 1’ off at 5k effort into the wind for 15 of the 16 reps. I also said yes to adventure and joined my friend and fellow podcaster Kevin (of Distance to Empty Podcast, all about the 200-mile distance) for the second of his two 4+ hour runs a few weekends ago.
We hit a route I’ve been intending to do for a while now. For those in the Front Range, we ran from the Fowler/Doudy Draw area to a Walker Ranch loop. Walker is much more fun when you don’t have to finish on an uphill, and I ran the entire final mile (550 feet of gain) without stopping, for the first time ever, in something like 11 minutes which felt a bit like 5k effort.
I also got to drink mountain water on a run in March, several months earlier than in previous years :)

I don’t have another race until May (BolderBoulder 10k), and then Broken Arrow 26k in Tahoe in June, so I’m just having fun and doing a bit more cross-training too.
I’ve got some epic podcasts and stories coming up in the next couple of weeks on FTLR - I’m so excited to share some big news in one of them!! 👀
Next month brings one of my favorite weekends of the year - the Boston Marathon. If you’ll be out there, reply back and let me know! Would love to meet up. I’ll be spectating from mile 24.2 as always!
